Metaphors of Movement – Levels 1 & 2 Combined Training

Now delivered in 8 × 4-hour immersive online sessions

This updated training brings together the full Foundations Level 1 and Metaphoric Hierarchy Level 2 curriculum into a streamlined, practice-rich programme. Across eight in-depth sessions, you’ll learn the full Metaphors of Movement framework, develop skill in recognising and working with metaphor, and gain the tools needed to deliver safe, effective, content-free change work.

Level 1 – The Foundation

You’ll learn the complete MoM process: how to hear metaphors accurately, structure a session, and apply metaphoric change to real-world problems. With extensive supervised practice, Level 1 equips you to conduct basic MoM sessions with confidence.

Level 1 content includes:

• The full MoM session structure and process flow
• The neurological rationale behind MoM change work
• Working with idiomatic communication
• Boundary violations and their metaphoric indicators
• Why “solutions” often fail, and how metaphoric solutions reveal the real structure of a problem
• Mapping the client’s intended outcome and identifying structural mismatches
• Introduction to metaphor taxonomies: the hidden logic within metaphor imagery
• Key categories explored in detail:
  • Obstructions – rules, values, and blockers
  • Containers – trapped, enclosed, inherited situations
  • Burdens – responsibilities, guilts, and weight metaphors
  • Elevations – status, position, and the paradox of “upness”

Level 2 – The Metaphoric Hierarchy

Level 2 expands your skillset into relationships, emotional health, symbolism, and time. You’ll learn how metaphors naturally evolve into new metaphors, how they organise into hierarchies, and how to use this structure to create generative change.

Level 2 content includes:

• Relationship metaphors and relational positions
• Emotional injury and emotional health: The Hurts
• Fulfilment, emotional exchange, and social transactions
• Applying metaphoric analysis to dreamwork
• Time predication, symbolism, and the logic of metaphors across time
• Introductory modules on:
  • Metaphors of Time – a preview of Level 6
  • Metaphors of Business and Money – foundations for Levels 4 & 5
